Today
we will be visiting an old-time camp
meeti
ng.
Our speaker is the famous Billy Sunday.
The tabernacle is filled with thousands.
Don't forget to shake the sawdust from
your shoes. We've really come tonight to
hear a new hymn that the choir, led by
Homer Rodeheaver, will be singing. The
choir is filled with at least a hundred
people. Their voices join together in an
inspiring new hymn.
"Wonderful Grace of Jesus"
was written by Haldor Lillenas in 1918.
The hymn is still a favorite now as it
was back during the time of Billy
Sunday, Bob Jones Sr. and Gipsy Smith.
Song leaders used this hymn to prepare
the people's hearts for the message that
the preacher would be bringing. "Think
of God's Grace" is the message of the
hymn, and you can do little else when
you read its words.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wonderful grace
of Jesus, Greater than all my sin;
How shall my tongue describe it, where
shall its praise begin?
Taking away my burden, setting my spirit
free;
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches
me.
Wonderful grace of
Jesus, reaching to all the lost,
By it I have been pardoned, saved to the
uttermost;
Chains have been torn asunder, giving me
liberty,
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches
me.
Wonderful grace of
Jesus, reaching the most defiled,
By its transforming power making him
God's dear child,
Purchasing peace and heaven for all
eternity;
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches
me.
Wonderful the
matchless grace of Jesus,
Deeper than the mighty rolling sea;
Higher than the mountain, sparkling like
a fountain,
All sufficient grace for even me,
Broader than the scope of my
transgressions,
Greater far than all my sin and shame;
O magnify the precious name of Jesus,
Praise His name!
