Ordination - How?

What does it mean to be ordained for the ministry? And who qualifies?

Answer:

To be ordained is the public acknowledging by the church that is  lead by the Holy Spirit in recognizing   God's call upon a candidate for the capacity of ministering the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

God's calling to the preaching ministry of the gospel places that individual under the process of examination by the church that leads to ordination (1 Tim. 3:6; 5:22;) and concludes in that examination that the individual is indeed called by God and has demonstrated that they are able to provide leadership for the church. It must be determined that they are Scriptural in Faith and Spiritual in Faithfulness. This determination must be provided by the Holy Spirit (Acts 13:2)

The act of ordination is performed in the presence of the Church by virtue of the symbolic laying on of hands on the candidate for the ministry. At which point and time, the candidate assumes full responsibility of their God ordained capacity for the ministry.

The principle of laying on of hands is a scriptural act of identification and accreditation and was practiced by New Testament Christians in the initiation for entrance into full time ministry (Acts 13:1-5).

Ordination is a very serious matter.  There are many shortcuts for ordination. Candidates for ordination will avoid the convenience of a short cut knowing that it will cut short their conscience.   You can get “ordained online” by a web site—their only requirement is that you pay a fee. While you are there you can get them to declare you as an elite saint .  Or you could find an independent church that ordains you with very little examination.  Or you  could manipulate circumstances and just ordain yourself.  In the end... no one (including yourself) will take you seriously.  Especially the Holy Spirit.

Ordination should always follow after an appropriate effort in biblical education and ministerial training.  The Bible emphasizes that we should study to show ourselves approved unto God (2 Timothy 2:15).  Visit the Open Bible Institute online and begin the process to ordination with a sound biblical and affordable seminary education today.
