Right from the beginning, Mark makes it obvious, Jesus is to be taken seriously. If Jesus Christ is not Lord, nothing matters. Because He is Lord, He is all that matters.

Verse twenty encompasses His death and His departure back to heaven.

This chapter opens with external and internal problems and closes with eternal precedence. Needless to say, Jesus has every ones attention in spite of the contention.
