The
setting in which Esther and her guardian
Mordecai were in is established in these
two opening verses of this Book.
Mixed with this potent kingdom is the
audacity that one can do whatever he
wishes without consequences. The
challenge for God's people to overcome
their enemies is a daunting one.
Satan's tactics are revealed. His
initial objective was not to annihilate
God's people, but to conform them to the
world (ch.3:3,5).
The Apostle Paul warned believers in
Rome against conformity to this world (Romans
12:1,3). When Satan fails to
conform believers to this world... he
seeks their utter destruction.
Fortunately, Satan is not omnipotent.
Mordecai and Esther demonstrate that it
is faith in God that overcometh the
world (1
John 5:4,5).
Sincerely, Dr. Arthur Belanger
