An Enemy Of God?

Who & Why?

Does God have enemies? If so, who are they? Can a Christian become an enemy of God?

Please notice in James 4:4b
Quote:  ...whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

An enemy of God is one who will deliberately and knowingly (or not), assist the world in its hostility towards Christ and His Church.

This means that every business that distributes liquor is the enemy of God. This means that every politician who supports abortion, gambling, homosexuality, and all other forms of wickedness is an enemy of God. This means that every publisher that redefines the Bible is the enemy of God. There are many enemies with many faces who are deliberately contrary to the will of God in this world. All who reject the Lord Jesus Christ and His offer of eternal life is of this world and therefore, is an enemy of God.

The "world" which the Bible speaks of is the world of wickedness that hides darkness in the glittering lights of good intentions that merely masquerade the evil intent and content of the heart flamed by the seductive influences fostered by Satan (Genesis 3).

Can A Christian Become An Enemy Of God?

Answer: In light of what an enemy is defined as, a Christian cannot become an enemy of God. However, a Christian can be at enmity with God. Sampson is a perfect example. He was enamored with the world around him. God dealt with Sampson as He does with all believers, not as an enemy, but as a Father (Proverbs 3:12).

The world hates God. Yet, God loves the world (John 3:16). God hates sin, but He loves sinners. When the Church refuses to be enamored with the ways of the world... Sinners will hear the relevance of Jesus Christ. The world cannot afford a worldly Church.            Bible College @ Home >>>
