Churches & Entertainment
Why
are so many churches succombing to
entertai
nment
to attract crowds? There is a
fervent emphasis on entertainment in
churches. It is true, many Christians
want to feel good and have a good time
when they go to church. But so does the
world when they go to the theatre,
stadium, and resturants.
Why is this so prevelant in Churches?
The answer is: Motive.
The fact is: What motivates us, conforms
us, thus, methodology is conceived. Many
Churches are in step with the
methodology of the world. The emphasis
is: Do whatever it takes to get
people into church. In reality,
we should do what it does take to get
the Church to go to the World with the
Gospel without trickery.
Charles Spurgeon, the great English
Baptist preacher, declared with passion,
Quote:
"The devil has seldom done a cleverer
thing than hinting to the Church that
part of their mission is to provide
entertainment for the people, with a
view to winning them... providing
amusement for the people is nowhere
spoken of in the Scriptures as a
function of the Church...The need is
biblical doctrine, so understood and
felt that it sets men of fire."
Amen and amen! The World cannot
afford a worldly Church.
Sincerely,Dr. Arthur Belanger
